For one who, as I believe I've expressed before, doesn't enjoy change, this has been a difficult concept to come to grips with. The passage of time inevitably means change.
My students, for example, will always change. I will have them for a certain period of years, and then they will be gone, moving on with their lives, leaving me behind.
My friendships will change. People drift out of my life as their paths take them to other places, and others drift in as their paths bring them my way.
My ideas will change. But usually I still agree with myself, so that's okay:)
But some things are constant. My former students are always and forever my former students, and I love that! My family's love is constant. There is constant learning going on, whether about how to deal with change, or how to relate to others, or what life is really about, or who I am, or who God is...
And most of all my Father is constant. "Change and decay in all around I see; Oh Thou who changest not, abide with me." His love is constant, His goodness is constant, and His plan for my life, no matter what seems to change from my perspective, is a constant progression toward Him.

Don't feel bad. I probably like change even less than you :)
But it really does help knowing that God will never change.
Beautifully profound. What a relief that God does NOT change! Isn't that a fascinating concept, considering how many people do not like change? Yet another reason why we need and desire Him in our lives? There is safety in Him.
I love that your former students are always that...and it works the other way too: former teachers are always your former teachers.
I saw my 10th grade English teacher in the Shaw's parking lot the other day, and couldn't let the opportunity pass without running over to give her a hug and say thank you...Just think: you have years of that to look forward to!
